Industry Application
APPLICATIONS INCLUDE:
BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Whilst it may serve as an alternative to explosives, non-detonating technology does not aim to compete with traditional explosives in the construction industry. Essentially, the company’s products are for use when explosives are not permitted.
There are several advantages of non-detonating technology – the most critical being safety, the lack of vibrations, reduced regulatory requirements and environmental benefits.
Due to the lack of knowledge consulting engineers fail to specify Nxco’s RBC’s as the methodology of choice.
MINING INDUSTRY
In comparison to conventional explosives, Nxco cartridges offer:
- A safer mine due to the remaining rock being left more competent
- Better fragmentation and reduced fines
- Higher yields (Prime one fraction)
- Lower Refining Costs
- Lower Dilution (Reduced contaminants)
- Faster re-entry times
- Increased production through the ability to mine continuously
Oversize boulders
On surface and underground (with Nxco RBC’s these can always be broken in shift).

Any sensitive in situ rock
Found in gardens, commercial & industrial areas and environmentally sensitive situations.
Demolition
Breaking down of concrete and reinforced concrete structures.
Mass excavations
Any mass rock excavation project that is sensitive in any way or is in close proximity to busy roads, infrastructure, gas, water, electricity or residential area.
Secondary rock breaking
Found in gardens, commercial & industrial areas and environmentally sensitive situations.
Tunneling
Nxco’s RBC’s can be used for tunneling as it leaves the remaining rock competent.
Trenching applications
Longer trenches can be optimised by using Nxco non-electric cartridges with surface timing allowing for a single initiation.
Marine applications
Nxco offers water proofed cartridges with stemmed or self-stemmed options available.
Shaft sinking rock breaking
Nxco non-electric sequentially timed RBC’s are ideally suited for vertical and other shaft sinking projects.
